Projects
Build something real.
Student-driven research and engineering projects in data science and AI. Each one has a lead and room for more people.
This year’s projects.
A CNN/RNN Approach to Tennis Court Analysis
A video model that reads tennis match footage and automatically predicts the sequence of shots played, using deep vision features and temporal modeling, with an optional motion-based (optical flow) variant.
Led by Rongguan GuCodeSignalRank
Bot solution for Discord that utilizes Python and Generative AI integration to deliver instant knowledge within a gamified environment.
Led by Tiffany HuangCodeVIdeo Generation
A fully from scratch implementation of a text-to-video model in PyTorch with all infrastructure.
Led by Norman SmithCodeMatty Maloni
A University of Florida Signal Processing Society project recreating the Shazam audio recognition algorithm from scratch.
Led by DIY-ShazamCodeLUMENS-PV
Learning, Understanding & Modeling for Emerging Materials for Space Photovoltaics (LUMENS-PV) - A computational pipeline that screens and evaluates photovoltaic materials for space use, combining machine learning, quantum simulations, and radiation modeling to identify durable, high-performance candidates for orbital conditions.

Questions.
What are DSI projects?
Student-led projects in data science and AI. They are a way to build real skills for research and industry, and project teams can get access to the HiPerGator supercomputer.
Who can join?
Anyone who meets the project lead's requirements. Those are usually light, since projects are meant for learning.
How do I get involved?
Pick a project below and contact its lead.
Still unsure? Ask in the Discord.
